Impact Champions for Charities, Schools and Good Causes

Reach new supporters through individuals and organisations who promote your fundraising using their own tracked links and QR codes, with the option to share the income they help generate.

Impact Champions help charities, schools, PTAs and PFAs, clubs, CICs, community organisations, faith groups and other good causes extend their fundraising networks without needing to create a separate fundraising activity for each partner.

Invite supporters, ambassadors, influencers, businesses and community organisations to share your existing fundraising pages. Track purchases associated with each Champion's link and, where agreed, allocate a share of the net funds raised.

Impact Champions sharing fundraising pages with their own networks using tracked links and QR codes

Extend your fundraising network through trusted supporters

An Impact Champion is an individual or organisation that promotes an existing fundraising page to its own online or offline audience using a unique, page-specific tracked link or QR code.

For example, an animal charity might ask a local influencer to introduce its fundraising appeal to followers. A business could share an event or fundraising page with customers, while a community group could display a QR code at a local gathering. Each Champion promotes the same underlying activity through their own network.

This provides another way to reach supporters beyond your organisation's existing audience. Where an Impact Champion split has been agreed, the Champion may also receive a share of the net income generated through their tracked link.

Impact Champion features

  • Promote existing fundraising pages — Champions share activities you have already created rather than needing to set up or jointly operate a new activity.
  • Unique tracked links — each Champion can obtain a page-specific link associated with their promotion.
  • QR code sharing — promote the activity online or through printed materials, physical locations and events.
  • Optional income sharing — define an Impact Champion split when creating or updating a fundraising page.
  • Unpaid champions are welcome — set the split to 0% when Champions are helping without receiving a payout.
  • Purchase attribution — use the tag associated with each Champion in the Income Report to identify purchases generated through their link.
  • Income split reporting — review the income splits owed to Champions in the Impact Champion Income Report.
  • Flexible promotion — involve ambassadors, influencers, businesses, affiliates, community groups and other supporters with relevant audiences.

Who can become an Impact Champion?

An Impact Champion does not need to be a fundraising professional. The most suitable Champions are people or organisations whose audiences may be interested in your cause or fundraising activity.

  • Individuals and existing supporters who want to spread the word
  • Charity ambassadors and advocates
  • Influencers and content creators with relevant audiences
  • Businesses, shops and service providers
  • Community groups, clubs, associations and local organisations
  • Schools, PTAs, PFAs and parent networks
  • Partner organisations, affiliates and professional networks
  • People who can promote a cause through physical venues or events

The size of a Champion's audience is not the only consideration. A smaller, engaged community with a strong connection to your cause may be more relevant than a much larger, less interested audience.

Impact Champion fundraising ideas

Because Impact Champions promote existing activities, the approach can complement different fundraising tools and appeals.

  • Charity ambassadors — invite supporters to share a donation or fundraising page with family, friends and online communities.
  • Local business promotion — ask a shop, cafe or other business to share a fundraising page or display its Champion QR code at the premises.
  • Event promotion — encourage community partners to share a ticketed fundraising event with their audiences.
  • Influencer-led appeals — work with content creators whose interests align with the cause and who can communicate the appeal authentically.
  • Community newsletters — provide associations, schools or clubs with tracked links for their existing email and newsletter audiences.
  • Campaign outreach — enlist several Champions to promote fundraising pages supporting a specific appeal or campaign.
  • Retail and hospitality promotion — place QR codes on suitable printed material or share links through the business's customer communications.
  • Supporter-to-supporter sharing — encourage volunteers and supporters to introduce relevant fundraising opportunities to their own networks.

How Impact Champions work with your fundraising tools

Impact Champions are a way to promote fundraising activities, not a separate activity that supporters must purchase from or participate in. Your existing fundraising pages remain the destination for supporters who want to take part.

For example, a Champion might share a donation page, promote an event, draw attention to an auction or introduce supporters to another available fundraising opportunity. The suitability of each approach depends on the activity and any applicable promotional or legal requirements.

You can also use Impact Champions alongside fundraising campaigns. The campaign provides a shared objective, its linked fundraising pages give supporters ways to participate, and Champions can promote those pages to their own audiences.

Setting the Impact Champion split

When creating or updating an eligible fundraising page, open the Impact Champions tab and set the Impact Champion split. This specifies the percentage of net funds raised through each Champion's unique link that will be allocated to that Champion.

  • Agree the percentage — decide whether Champions will receive a share of the attributable net funds and what percentage is appropriate.
  • Enter the split on the page — use the Impact Champions tab when creating or updating the activity.
  • Use 0% for unpaid promotion — Champions can still share the page and be associated with purchases, but no Champion payout is due under a 0% split.
  • Communicate the agreement — make sure participating Champions understand the relevant percentage, reporting, payout arrangements and promotional expectations.

If a positive split is set, Champions can begin sharing their page-specific links. The split concerns the net funds attributable to those links, rather than all income received by your organisation from the fundraising page.

How Impact Champions find and share a page

  1. Find the fundraising page — search for the relevant page or open it directly.
  2. Get a page-specific link or QR code — obtain the Champion sharing details associated with that page.
  3. Choose the right audience — identify followers, customers, colleagues, community members or contacts who may be interested in the activity.
  4. Share the page — use the Champion link or QR code in suitable online and offline communications.
  5. Explain the cause clearly — tell prospective supporters what the activity is, who it helps and how they can take part.

A Champion can promote a fundraising page through websites, social media, email, newsletters, posters, QR codes and other appropriate channels. Keeping the Champion's own tracked link or QR code in those communications allows associated purchases to be identified in the reporting.

Promoting Impact Champion fundraising

Your organisation can help Champions promote fundraising effectively by sharing accurate information about the cause, a clear description of the activity and appropriate visual assets or suggested messages.

Champions can adapt the message for their audiences while keeping the purpose of the fundraising and the destination of the link clear. Where a Champion is receiving payment or another incentive for promotion, the relationship should be disclosed appropriately and relevant advertising, fundraising and platform rules should be followed.

Impact Champion promotion works best when it is relevant to the audience, consistent with the organisation's values and easy for supporters to understand. Income sharing is optional; some Champions may participate purely to support the cause.

Track Impact Champion fundraising income

Two reports help your organisation review purchases attributed to Champions and the income splits arising from their promotion.

  • Income Report — shows the income generated through fundraising activities, including purchases associated with a Champion's link and the corresponding Champion tag.
  • Impact Champion Income Report — shows the income splits owed to each Impact Champion, helping your organisation review the amounts to be paid.

View Income Report View Impact Champion Income Report

These reports help you assess the financial results associated with Champion links. They should not be taken as evidence of every impression, conversation, click or wider effect of a Champion's activity unless separately measured.

Impact Champion payouts

Impact Champion payouts currently need to be arranged directly between your organisation and each Champion. The Impact Champion Income Report identifies the income splits owed, but the platform does not currently make those payments automatically.

Your organisation should agree the payment arrangements with its Champions, check the amounts due and arrange settlement outside the platform. Keep appropriate records of payments and any related agreements.

Automatic payouts are planned for a future update, but they are not part of the current Impact Champions functionality. Until introduced, responsibility for arranging payment remains with your organisation.

Impact Champions versus other fundraising networks

Impact Champions complement Company, Corporate and Community Fundraising, but work differently from these partnership models.

  • Impact Champions — promote existing fundraising pages through their own tracked links or QR codes, without needing to create or operate a separate activity. An optional share of attributable net income can be agreed.
  • Company Fundraising — connects fundraising with a business's customers, products, services or premises through customer-facing activities.
  • Corporate Fundraising — focuses on employees, workplace teams and charitable participation through employer-supported activities.
  • Community Fundraising — involves schools, clubs, community groups and other local partners in shared activities and experiences that benefit the participating organisations.

The same business or community partner might participate in more than one way. For example, a business could promote an existing charity event as an Impact Champion while also organising a separate customer-facing fundraiser through Company Fundraising.

Why use Impact Champions?

  • Extend your reach — connect with people beyond your existing supporter base through networks that may already know and trust their Champion.
  • Build on existing fundraising — encourage promotion of pages and activities you already operate.
  • Welcome different kinds of supporters — work with individuals, influencers, companies, ambassadors and community groups.
  • Encourage active promotion — offer an optional share of attributable net income where an incentive is appropriate.
  • Support voluntary advocates — Champions can still participate when the split is 0%.
  • Make attribution visible — review the Champion tags associated with purchases in the Income Report.
  • Understand amounts owed — use the Impact Champion Income Report to review agreed income splits before arranging payouts.

How to get started with Impact Champions

  1. Choose a suitable fundraising page — identify an existing or new activity that would benefit from promotion to additional audiences.
  2. Identify potential Champions — consider supporters, influencers, businesses and community organisations with relevant networks.
  3. Agree how promotion will work — explain the cause, messages, audiences and any expectations around disclosures or acceptable promotional activity.
  4. Decide whether to share income — agree an Impact Champion percentage or use 0% for unpaid promotion.
  5. Configure the page — set the percentage in the Impact Champions tab when creating or updating the fundraising page.
  6. Share the page details — direct Champions to find the page and obtain their own unique link or QR code.
  7. Promote through relevant channels — encourage Champions to share with their audiences online or offline.
  8. Review reported income — use the Income Report and Impact Champion Income Report to understand attributed purchases and splits.
  9. Arrange any payouts — settle agreed Champion amounts directly, as automatic payouts are not currently available.

Examples include supporters, influencers, ambassadors, companies, affiliates, community groups and partner organisations with audiences they can engage.

How does an Impact Champion obtain a link or QR code?
They can search for the fundraising page or access it directly and obtain their own page-specific sharing link or QR code.

Where do I set the Impact Champion split?

What is the Impact Champion split based on?
The split is a percentage of net funds raised through purchases attributed to that Champion's unique link, not a percentage of all fundraising by your organisation.

The Income Report displays the Impact Champion tag alongside purchases generated through their link.
